Deer Tick’s John McCauley Plays for Charleston Waterkeeper – Partnership Announced

Last Friday, Charleston Waterkeeper and Partisan Records teamed up to host an exclusive listening party for Deer Tick‘s newest, unreleased album.

We had originally intended to host a live performance with Deer Tick’s lead singer, John McCauley.  Unfortunately, John was stranded in Colorado and subsequently couldn’t make it to town in time.  To make it up to us, however, John invited Charleston Waterkeeper and its supporters to be the first to listen to Deer Tick’s newest album.  He even took it one step further by recording a video where he performed three songs for us.  If you missed the event, you’ll have to wait until the album comes out to hear it, but you can enjoy John’s virtual performance in the meantime…

(To watch the full, “un-edited” version of John’s video, visit Partisan’s YouTube page here.  Disclaimer: some language used in the video may not be suitable for all.  Watch at your own risk, but know that John is a huge supporter of Charleston Waterkeeper and our mission.  Thanks for the support, John!  Charleston and its waterways really appreciate it.)

We had a great turnout and thoroughly enjoyed watching’s John’s exclusive performance.  Without revealing too much information, we’ll just say that the new album is absolutely amazing; we were incredibly honored to be able to play it in public for the first time!

The event also marked the official announcement of a new partnership we’ve been working on between Patagonia Music, Partisan Records, and Middle Brother (less of an indie-rock super-group and more of an “exotic band” that consists of Deer Tick’s John McCauley, Delta Spirit’s Matt Vasquez, and Dawes’ Taylor Goldsmith).

Patagonia Music is an exciting initiative created to benefit the environment.

Patagonia has teamed up with a diverse group of world-class musicians to help protect and restore our natural environment.  The musicians provide an exclusive song, you buy some great music on iTunes and non-profit environmental groups receive much-needed funds.

We’re excited to announce that Middle Brother will be making available an exclusive track on Patagonia Music later this summer.  Proceeds from the sale of the track will benefit our work at Charleston Waterkeeper.  Stay tuned, and we’ll announce its release as soon as its live.

A special thanks to John McCauley, Partisan Records, and Palmetto Brewing Company for helping to make this event a huge success!  Also, a big thanks to all those who made it out.
