Members of Charleston Waterkeeper’s Board of Directors receive a $6,600 check from a MESSA representative.

If you recall from February’s MESSA 8K for H2o, Charleston Waterkeeper was lucky enough to be chosen as the benefitting charity of the annual fundraiser and road race. We’re happy to announce that the final numbers are in, an over-sized check has been presented, and when all is said and done, $6,600 has been donated to Charleston Waterkeeper thanks to MESSA’s 8K for H2O!

We wanted to extend a HUGE thank you to the MESSA team for putting on such an amazing event this past winter and for commiting their mission to protecting Charleston’s waterways. We were honored to be involved and are excited to use these funds to further our water quality monitoring program.

Charleston Waterkeeper was the chosen charity for Guerrilla Cuisine’s final year-end event, held on December 28th. Only a year old, Guerrilla Cuisine provides a unique approach to dining. Each event, held at least monthly, is a collaboration between organizer, venue, farmers, chefs, artists, musicians and a charity. To learn more about Guerrilla Cuisine visit their website.

This event was yet another great opportunity to shed light on the conditions of our waterways while encouraging members of the community to get behind Charleston Waterkeeper. Thank you to all those involved for your support and encouragement of the Waterkeeper mission.

The event was hosted and held at Queen Street Grocery, Charleston’s finest organic grocery store. With fresh crepes and organic smoothies made to order, Queen Street Grocery wowed all those in attendance with their quality and creativity. To taste these world famous crepes yourself, visit QSG at 133 Queen Street, downtown Charleston.

Charleston Waterkeeper has partnered with our friends at Green Drinks Charleston for their 2nd Annual Holiday Party. The event will be held at Yo Burrito in downtown Charleston from 7pm until 11pm. The evening will feature live bluegrass music, a huge raffle featuring prizes from local businesses, beer tasting and opportunities to sign up as members of both organizations. All proceeds will be donated to Charleston Waterkeeper to help with our mission of improving the quality of Charleston’s waterways.

Green Drinks is a dynamic group of individuals and organizations from around the Lowcountry who gather to enjoy cocktails, lively discussions, new friends, guest speakers and good times. Known locally as Charleston’s Green Happy Hour, Green Drinks Charleston is one of over 400 chapters around the world dedicated to bringing people together who are both living and practicing the principles of sustainability and those seeking to learn more.

So come out and kick off the holiday season with us. Don’t forget your business cards (and check books of course!…just kidding…sort of…ok, not really) as there will be plenty of opportunities to network.

This event is FREE and open to the public!
