Water Quality Monitoring
We screen bacteria levels so you can splash safely. We monitor levels of fecal indicator bacteria Enterococcus at 15 locations around the Charleston Harbor Watershed and publish data for the public to access most up-to-date water quality data at the areas used most frequently for primary contact recreation
We provide mobile pumpout service to pump out waste contents from boat holding tanks. This helps boaters do the right thing by providing a convenient and legal way to dispose of vessel sewage from marine toilets.
We regulate pollution to make sure nobody is over-discharging by regularly screening and investigating the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Program permit holders in the Charleston Harbor Watershed.
Our fleet patrols the waterways, ensuring safety and cleanliness are up to our standards. In addition, Charleston Waterkeeper’s boat, the Lady C, supports all programing activity.
Our community is surrounded by water and it’s our job to take care of it. Our Watershed Education Program works to inspire, engage, and train a community of waterway stewards to take care of Charleston’s local waterways.
