NASA Climatologist to Visit College of Charleston
This Friday (October 24th) at 2:30p.m., NASA’s lead climatologist, Dr. James Hansen, is set to visit the College of Charleston to endorse student efforts to create a clean energy future. Hansen heads NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies. He is most recognized for his groundbreaking testimony on climate change before a congressional committee in the 1980s. Dr. Hansen’s efforts to reveal the issues of global warming and climate change have sparked global awareness of such issues.
Hansen is partnering with student led organizations at the College of Charleston and other educational institutions around the nation to call on state and national leaders to make clean energy a top domestic priority in upcoming elections. Hansen’s endorsement of Power Vote, an organization aiming to unite one million young voters behind a platform to combat global warming pollution, comes at an incredibly crucial time.
Dr. Hansen will speak at 2:30pm on Friday, October 23 at Physician’s Auditorium on the College of Charleston campus (66 George Street).
