Kinder Morgan Delays Expansion
At Kinder Morgan’s most recent Community Advisory Panel Meeting, the focus was on the economic impact of the terminal to the Charleston area. According to a presentation made by Craig Mullins, Kinder Morgan has 167 terminals and owns nearly 37,000 miles of pipeline throughout North America. The Charleston plant is home to 100 employees averaging an hourly wage of $17.50.
Kinder Morgan recently applied for a permit allowing an expansion of their facility. When asked how our nation’s economic situation is affecting their plans to break ground on their Charleston expansion, Art Rudolph revealed that “[Kinder Morgan] has no estimated time-line for start up.”
These monthly CAP meetings are open to the public and are held at City Hall in North Charleston. The next meeting will be at 5:30pm on March 25. The topic of discussion will be “Kinder Morgan and Regional Planning.”
