Cousteau and Blue Legacy Visit Charleston
Alexandra Cousteau, who is continuing the work of her grandfather Jacques-Yves Cousteau and father Philippe Cousteau, is currently on a five-month interactive exploration of critical water issues across the U.S., Canada and Mexico. The expedition will tour more than 15,000 miles in a biodiesel tour bus converted to serve as a “rolling Calypso” for daily production and web broadcasting of films, photos and findings.
Expedition Blue Planet will be rolling through Charleston this week, on September 8, 2010. Charleston Waterkeeper has teamed up with Cousteau and her team to host an educational community day – “The Water Village.” We hope everyone can come out to meet and great the team, and learn a bit more about some of the issues we’re tackling locally.
Here are the details of the day’s “Water Village” event…
WHO: Charleston Waterkeeper, the College of Charleston Student Government Association, and Alexandra Cousteau’s Expedition Blue Planet
WHAT: “Water Village” – An interactive event aimed to educate the public on what local non-profit organizations, including Charleston Waterkeeper, are doing here and abroad to improve the health of our waterways. Expedition Blue Planet will show parallels between local and global water issues. This event is free and open to the public.
