Water Main Break…Aging Infrastructure?

A water main broke on Queen Street last night around 10pm.  Hank Weed and Mary Wutz of Queen Street Grocery reported the break to officials.  Charleston Water Systems made repairs by noon the next day and had water running to residents shortly thereafter.

Cold weather and aging infrastructure were likely contributors to the break.  This may raise potential questions regarding the integrity of our sewer and stormwater infrastructure.  Restoration projects can be seen throughout the city and surrounding areas.
