Interview with Tia Clark
We caught up with one our newest Board Members and the crabbing queen, Tia Clark!
HP: Why do you choose to support Charleston Waterkeeper?
TC: I choose to support Charleston Waterkeeper because of the hard work they do to provide up to date water quality information to our community. I also respect that that they will call you out and hold your hand to the fire when you are NOT respecting or protecting our waters.
HP: What is your favorite way to enjoy clean water?
TC: My favorite ways to enjoy clean water are crabbing and fishing, of course. If I’m not crabbing for work then I’m probably fishing for fun.
HP: What is your favorite waterway in Charleston?
TC: The Ashley River is my favorite waterway. It’s the first place I crabbed and very close to where I grew up.
HP: Tell us something interesting about yourself that we might not know?
TC: People know that I worked in the food in beverage industry for two decades, but they might not know that I have held almost every position you can hold in a restaurant or bar. I have been a dishwasher, prep cook, line cook, hostess, server, bartender, and manager. I have thrown pies at Sharky’s Pizza and made gallons of mayonnaise for Hominy Grill. My time in food and bev prepared me for everything I do today.
