We caught up with the talented, Gil Shuler!

HP: Why do you choose to support Charleston Waterkeeper?

GS: because it is our responsibility as humans to protect our natural resources and clean water may be the most important resource we have. Plus, I fish a lot and those fish need clean water too!

HP: What is your favorite way to enjoy clean water?

GS: Fly Fishing — either walking, paddling or in a power boat are an immense variety of opportunities to enjoy the wonderful waterways around Charleston.

HP: What is your favorite waterway in Charleston?

GS: All of them, but I truly enjoy Bulls Bay.

HP: Tell us something interesting about yourself that we might not know?

GS: I tie my own flies.

My 1983 BFA from Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC, would not have happened without the guidance of my design professor, Wade Hobgood, who was a huge influence on me and one of the reasons GSGD exist.
